Certis has been an enthusiastic advocate of the U40s Fruit Growers for several years. By sponsoring this vibrant, ambitious next generation of the UK fruit industry, we have benefited from valuable insights that help keep us abreast of the latest technologies and the challenges professional growers face. Via U40s conferences, Certis continues to cement valuable relationships and gain inspirations that help feed our drive towards sustainability, while having great fun interacting with members during visits to the fruit industry in other countries and continents.
Personally, I have also made long-lasting friendships and absolutely cherish every moment I spend with this fantastic group of like-minded people!
I truly believe the Under 40’s is a truly special organisation. It has something which is difficult to put your finger on, a certain buzz about it. It is an incredible group of like minded people who are all passionate about the future of the fruit industry. I joined as a member knowing very few people, and now a huge network has opened up before me. Everyone is friendly, open and eager to learn more, from each other and the wonderful visits we go on. Becoming Chair in 2017-2019 has been an honour and was such a fun and incredible time and taught me so much, giving me experience I will carry with my career. I would encourage anyone to join – you will never meet another bunch like this!
he principle of the Under 40’s movement, to enable liked minded individuals to network within our very dynamic fruit industry, is what makes it work. Agrovista UK has made a long term commitment to the UK fruit industry, engaging and training young agronomists to work closely with our clients in the field. We were very proud Platinum Sponsors of the recent study tour to Chile, attended by our Fruit Technical Manager, Alex Radu. Alex has since returned with some great ideas to supplement our bio rational strategies, and has made some great new contacts. I would encourage all young people involved in the fruit industry to get involved, and I would encourage employers to help facilitate this involvement too.
The Under 40’s. Wow, what an absolutely brilliant what to not only meet like minded fruit industry experts however an excellent opportunity to learn subliminally by simply having time to chat to others in the same field. I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved for many years as a delegate, as the chair and now as a sponsor. I can honestly say that the Under 40’s really has grown my confidence, my network and now my business. Get involved folks !!
Having been a delegate and an organiser for the Under 40s fruit growers conference I can highly recommend it to potential sponsors and delegates alike. I still have good friends and business associates from previous conferences which are invaluable to my current situation and would urge anyone to support it. It is rare to spend time with fellow fruit growers of a similar age outside marketing groups and regional boundaries and the opportunity for sharing experience, knowledge and interests in this forum is rare indeed.
The under 40’s conference is not only a fantastic way to see how other countries farm and use new and different techniques that we can use and apply to our business, but it is also a great way of meeting people and gaining contacts in our industry.
You get to see how growers do things differently and have a chance to explore how different growing systems work. But most importantly, this is where the personal connections are made; where people become friends and forge long-term, sustainable, mutually beneficial relationships that have the potential to see them through their careers
